1. What we collect #
To run Deckboard for you, we store:
- Your email address — your account identifier and how we send account-security email.
- A password hash — we store a one-way hash of your password. We never store your password in plaintext and cannot read it.
- Board content — the messages, images, menus, playlists and feed settings you put on your boards.
- Preferences — your density, theme, sound and similar display settings.
- Command history — the recent pushes to your boards, so you can review and replay them.
- Operational logs — routine technical logs (such as request and error logs) used to keep the service running and secure.
2. Your email is never sold #
Your email address is never sold, rented, or shared for marketing — not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Full stop.
3. Marketing email is opt-in only #
We only send marketing or product-update email if you explicitly opt in. There’s a checkbox in your Account settings for it, and it is off by default. You can withdraw your consent with one click at any time by unchecking that box — no email to us, no waiting period. Turning it off stops the marketing email; it does not affect the account-security email described next.
4. Account-security email #
Regardless of the marketing setting, we may send you transactional email strictly for account security — such as address verification and password resets. These are necessary to operate your account safely and aren’t marketing.
5. Aggregate, de-identified use #
We may analyze usage in aggregate, de-identified form to improve the product and develop new features — for example, understanding which channels are popular or where people hit friction. This is never done in a way that identifies an individual. We don’t build advertising profiles about you, and we don’t analyze the private content of your boards to target you.
6. No data sales, no ad trackers #
We do not sell your personal data, and the Deckboard app carries no third-party advertising trackers. We’re not in the business of monetizing your attention or your contacts.
7. Retention & deletion #
We keep your data for as long as your account is active so the service works. You can request deletion at any time by emailing us (see Contact), and deleting your account removes your personal data. Some limited records may persist briefly in routine backups or where retention is legally required, and de-identified aggregate statistics that can no longer identify you may remain.
8. Processors we rely on #
Deckboard runs on a small set of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare — hosting, storage and network infrastructure that runs the app and stores your account and board data.
- Resend — delivers transactional email (such as password resets) when that email is enabled.
- Finnhub and other market-data providers — power live channels like stocks and quotes. These providers receive no personal data from us; we only request the public market data your board asks for.
- Direct-from-browser data sources — a few live channels fetch public data straight from the provider in your browser (for example Open-Meteo for weather and CoinGecko for crypto prices). Like any site your browser visits, those providers can see your IP address for that request. We send them nothing else — no account details, ever. If a channel uses your location, it does so only after you grant your browser's location permission, and the coordinates go only to the weather provider to answer that request.
